Removable denture

Removable denture

Removable prosthodontics is concerned with replacing the teeth and soft tissues with a non-permanent prosthesis that can be removed. These are often known as dentures, and can replace a full arch of teeth (complete dentures), or a number of individual or grouped tooth spaces (partial dentures). It can be made from Acrylics or Metal for durable purpose.

Benefits from wearing removable denture
Wearing removable denture assist you in chewing, natural smiling and more confident to smile.

Partial denture
If you have one or more natural teeth remaining in either the upper or lower jaw, you can get a removable partial denture (or bridge).
This is when your dentists insert replacement teeth that are connected to a gum-colored plastic base. You can replace front, back, upper and lower teeth with partial dentures.
Often, there is a metal frame involved that holds the dentures in place while in your mouth or clasps that attach to the adjacent crowns. It all depends on the type of partial denture your dentist recommends. We’ll take a look at those next.

Complete denture
Full dentures, or complete dentures, are a removable device that can be used to replace missing teeth. The denture teeth are made out of porcelain or acrylic and held together by an acrylic base. Partial dentures are similar but only used to replace some teeth, whilst a complete denture is a replacement for the full set.
Full dentures may be needed when you lose all of your teeth and they can help fill out your appearance again, and leaving you feeling more confident to smile.

Implant-supported denture
An implant-supported denture is a type of overdenture that is supported by and attached to implants. A regular denture rests on the gums, and is not supported by implants. An implant-supported denture is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support implants.
