Type of gingivectomy

1. Gingival Flap surgery: Gingival flap surgery is a procedure in which the gums are separated from the teeth at least 5 mm. and folded back temporarily to allow a dentist to reach the root of the tooth and the bone.

2. Gingivectomy is a dental procedure in which a dentist or oral surgeon cuts away part of the gums in the mouth (the gingiva). It is the oldest surgical approach in periodontal therapy and is usually done for improvement of aesthetics or prognosis of teeth.

3. Gigivoplasty is the surgical reshaping of gum tissue around the teeth. It is often is done simply to make gums look better. They may have an unusual shape or may not be formed normally. The causes can include a person’s genes, disease or trauma.
